Political Action
ORBA ensures strong ties with the Government of Ontario and Official Opposition. Promotes
the industry's interest provincially and federally. |

Municipal Affairs
ORBA ensures communication with Ontario municipal politicians and roads departments. |
- Promotion of infrastructure investment,
standardized design,
construction and maintenance specs, and privatization at the municipal level.

MTO Liaison
ORBA meets regularly with senior MTO staff (policy) and public officials (programs). |
- Direct input to MTO policy, procedures and programs.

Education
ORBA delivers management education courses, the Ontario Gold Seal program and special education programs. |
- Upgrade skills and knowledge of key employees through specialized
skills and business education programs.

News and Information
ORBA produces regular newsletters, time-sensitive bulletins, Road Builder magazine, faxed tender results
and an annual Directory. |
- Daily faxed tender reports.
- Regular reports on industry affairs, association initiatives and subjects which affect
members' businesses
- Annual Directory - 2,000 copies.

Standards and Specifications
ORBA works with 8 Ontario Provincial Standards (OPSS) committees and consults directly with MTO on asphalt,
concrete, grading, aggregate and other specifications. |
- Member input into all MTO and OPSS standards and specifications.

Issues Management
ORBA's 16 working committees represent road builder interests on technical and political issues which can
affect members' productivity, profit and stability. |
- Members have a strong voice on issues such as equipment rental rates,
wayside pits, environmental issues, CVOR, vehicle weights and dimensions, taxation, tendering policies, safety,
aggregates resources policy.....
